That was a key component of the message from Gary Maxwell, Walmart’s Sr. Vice President of International Supply Chain, the Day 1 keynote speaker at last week’s CSCMP annual conference in Chicago.

HSBC Trade Confidence Index points to green shoots of recovery

Procurement Leaders.com reports that new research reveals that there are strong signs of growing confidence in the state of global trade, indicating that exporters and importers might be seeing the start of an economic recovery. 

The HSBC Trade Confidence Index, which surveyed over 3,500 small and mid-market businesses (SMEs and MMEs) in 12 major global markets, showed an overall positive outlook with an average global reading of 110 on a scale of 0 to 200, with 100 as a neutral reading.

Jeff Ashcroft of Supply Chain Network talks about the key findings from the “2009 3PL Provider CEO Perspective” survey. The findings are being presented at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Annual Global Conference by survey author, Dr. Robert Lieb, Professor of Supply Chain Management at Northeastern University and Joe Gallick, Senior Vice President of Sales for Penske Logistics.

 The findings, sponsored by Penske Logistics, analyze responses from 35 third-party logistics company CEOs across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific whose companies were responsible for generating approximately $64 billion in revenue in 2008.
